CarbonCare® Conference 2019
Climate Emergency:
Integrating Community and Business Actions
10 December 2019 (Tuesday) 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Happy Valley Racecourse
Come join us for this exciting full-day event!
Organizers: Carbon Care Asia & CarbonCare InnoLab
A growing list of country and city governments are formally declaring the existence of a ‘climate emergency.’ This helps them to coordinate the effective measures for climate action and make plans necessary for a safe, low carbon future. The IPCC, the UN’s main scientific body on climate change, says plainly, “Pathways limiting global warming to 1.5°C with no or limited overshoot would require rapid and far-reaching transitions in energy, land, urban and infrastructure (including transport and buildings), and industrial systems.”
Carbon Care Asia’s 2019 conference comes at a time when Hong Kong is preparing its long-term decarbonisation plan. Recognising that this urgent task necessarily involves efforts from all sectors of society, the conference will feature speakers from business, the financial and IT sectors and civil society on ways to contribute to climate mitigation and adaptation.
Tackling the climate emergency is non-negotiable, but approaches must be found that are economically and socially feasible. Thinking beyond current systems and constraints, the CarbonCare® Conference will explore ways to shape the transition to a zero-carbon future that brings fresh economic opportunities and a more just society.
